‘Longleat’
‘Bath Arms’
‘Story by Clare’
I live near Horningsham which is where The Bath Arms is based, My mum lived in Horningsham for many years and was there at the time when Lord Valentine who would today be Lord Bath hung himself.
He was playing a practical joke on his wife whilst they were out for the evening together and he stood on a stool and the stool gave way and he was accidently hung.
It was in 1979 and as my mum walked down by the pub there was a flag flying at Halfmast to indicate something had happened
He is known to roam the rooms of the pub.
Please Email me if you know of any extra information

‘Longleat House’
Lady Louise Cartaret who was the wife to the second Viscount of Weymouth , fell in love with one of her own footman servants of which she began a affair. The two of them were later caught together at the house.
The viscount confronted and pushed the servant down a spiral staircase killing him instantly.
Lady Louise Carteret was later told that her servant left on family business. Not believing a word of
what she had been told Lady Louise searched the house for her lover, knocking and opening doors along the corridors of longleat.
Shortly after Lady louise Carteret died a natural death from pneumonia and to this day her spirit, Known as ‘The Green Lady’ haunts the corridor known as ‘green Lady’s walk’.
Her spirit is said to still knock and open doors along the corridor looking for her long lost love.
