It is said that Mrs Bynge, the wife of rector with her three young sons were turned out of the rectory into the streets during the mid sixtieth century by Cromwell's men.
Since then, her apparition has been said to visit two bedrooms along a corridor and descend a now demolished spiral staircase to the kitchen and enter the gardens from a passageway.
